Travis Gerrald PT, DPT, CFMT
Owner/Founder
Creative. Empowering. Intentional.
Travis was first introduced to the Functional Manual Therapy® (FMT) approach while in Physical Therapy School. He witnessed the power of FMT and recognized the importance of considering the entire body and enhancing function, more than simply treating symptoms. Travis spent the first five years of his career learning this approach. During this time, he participated in the IPA Residency Program in New York City, studying the FMT approach in-depth. In August 2019, he completed an intense testing process, in which he achieved the prestige of becoming a Certified Functional Manual Therapist — passing with Distinction. Travis is now in a Faculty role with the Institute of Physical Art and educates other physical therapists about the FMT approach.
While living in NYC, Travis had the opportunity to provide backstage treatments to Broadway performers weekly at Hamilton and also treated at a variety of other shows including Aladdin, Book of Mormon, Mean Girls, and Chicago.
Travis recently completed the Titleist Performance Institute Level I certification. He found he was attracting many golfers in the Charlotte area looking to maximize their efficiency on the golf course. They were looking for ways to improve their game to avoid/manage injuries. As a result, he sought out the certification to enhance this ability to serve his growing golfer clientele.
Travis completed his undergraduate work at Clemson University in 2009 and received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Elon University in 2014. In addition to his FMT training, he has studied and taken courses from the work of Bob Elvey, Geoffrey Maitland, and The Gray Institute.
He maintains professional interest in studying manipulative therapy, visceral mobilization, and the effect of nutrition on inflammation. His experience also includes cervicogenic headaches, spine pathologies, TMD, and enhancing the ability to connect the human body as one efficient unit to allow for decreased pain, improved function and enhanced physical performance.
Outside of work, Travis enjoys spending time with his wife, Keely, his children, Bo (4), Wyatt (2) and his new baby Jane. He loves to eat good food, exercise, watch college football, and listen to books/podcasts on entrepreneurism and professional development.
Travis looks forward to partnering with the active professionals of Charlotte in helping them meet their wellness and performance goals.
