Denise Owens, a seasoned physical therapist with a passion for holistic wellness, has been dedicated to transforming lives through her physical therapy skills and knowledge since 1994 when she graduated from Columbia University with a Master’s in Science Physical Therapy. Born out of a commitment to excellence and a profound understanding of the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, Denise’s journey in physical therapy has been marked by continuous learning, compassionate care, and community engagement.
Over the years, she has become a trusted professional in her field, specializing in various advanced techniques aimed at promoting optimal health and well-being. Denise is certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling through Myopain Seminars, showcasing her commitment to staying at the forefront of innovative therapeutic practices. Her extensive training in myofascial release, pelvic dysfunction, and orthopedic dysfunction reflects her dedication to providing comprehensive and personalized care to her patients. She has completed a significant amount course work with the Institute of Physical Art learning Functional Manual Therapy, as well as coursework in visceral mobilization. In her practice, Denise welcomes individuals of all genders, offering high- quality physical therapy with a holistic approach.
Denise treats with respect for what is termed “regional interdependence”. This means our muscles and joints need to work in an integrated fashion to have maximum efficiency of movement and to minimize pain. Per a John Muir inspired T-shirt, “You can’t touch one thing in nature without touching everything else.”
She has shared her knowledge and experience as a mentor and guest lecturer for the Atrium Pelvic Health Residency Program. Additionally, she has served as a teaching assistant with Herman and Wallace, renowned educators in pelvic treatment, further contributing to the professional development of her peers.
Beyond her work in physical therapy, Denise is an active member of the Insight Meditation community in Charlotte, where she serves as a Dharma leader. Her commitment to mindfulness and spiritual well-being enriches her life and adds an additional dimension to her approach to patient care.
Outside of time in the clinic, Denise finds joy in dog sitting, maintains a healthy and active lifestyle through her love for exercise and dancing, particularly East Coast Swing, and Contra styles, and is now joyfully planning a wedding with her fiancé.
